On Monday August 26, City Council approved the Lexington Fire Department's Comfort K9 Program Policy. The approval of the policy will lead to the arrival of Luna, the department's comfort K9.

Luna, a red labrador retriever, is expected to arrive in late September to provide companionship and emotional relief for firefighters that face immense stress and trauma in their line of work.

The City will soon be accepting donations that will be utilized for Luna's well-being including veterinary visits, toys, and other quality of life expenses. Donations will not be used for any City expenses outside of Luna's care/treatment. More information will be released in the near future about how supporters can donate.
