*Update 6/1/2020 :

Bulk Yard Waste Collection Service Resumes Week of June 1.

Bulk yard waste collection services resume regular schedule this week (June 1, 2020). Thank you for your patience and understanding with delays in this service.

Note:  In order to service all residents as quickly as possible, we collect loose/bulky yard waste piles that are 5 cubic yards or smaller (equating to 8 feet in length, 4 feet wide, 4 feet high). If the pile is larger, we will work to pick it up each week until it’s gone.

The following rules still apply:
• If tree(s) are cut by a contractor/commercial tree service, the contractor is required to remove it.
• No other items can be mixed in with the yard waste (items like rocks/dirt and trash).  Crews cannot service the pile until the items are removed.
• No tree trunks, branches, or limbs larger than six (6) inches in diameter.

Visit our Recycling and Waste Collection  page for more information.

 *Update 4/6/2020 :

Change to Recycling and Waste Collection services effective immediately

To allow Recycling and Waste Collection to focus on critical garbage and recycling collection during the COVID-19 State of Emergency, the City of Lexington is making the following changes:

  • Residents should call 336-248-3965 to make an appointment for bulk item collection, such as furniture and mattresses.
  • Bulk yard waste, such as limbs and bush clippings, service is suspended.
  • Do not place bulk yard waste at the curb or blocking the road in any way. Instead, store these items on your property, away from the road.
  • Please be patient as you could experience significant delay in collection of loose grass clippings and yard waste items.
  • To help, we encourage you to take bulk yard waste to Todco Inc., at 1123 Roy Lopp Rd., Lexington, NC 27292 yourself for disposal. Please call their office at 336-248-2001 prior to taking any yard waste.

We appreciate patience and understanding during this time.  Adjusting the bulk yard waste collection services will allow garbage and recycling collection to continue without interruption to maintain public and employee health and safety.

Changes for Lexington Golf Club

As of Tuesday, April 7th, the Lexington Golf Club has a walking only policy.  In light of COVID-19, appropriate precautions at the golf course continue to be monitored and adapted as necessary.

 *Update 3/23/2020

City of Lexington is committed to adapt and implement additional measures for your safety, during this rapidly changing public health crisis:

  • All events at Commons on the Green, Edward C. Smith Civic Center and Breeden Insurance Amphitheater are suspended through July 4th weekend.
  • Playgrounds, restrooms and water fountains in City parks closed.  No basketball games or close contact allowed (6 feet of separation), basketball courts should be primarily individual use. Trails and open spaces are still open and people are encouraged to use them while practicing social distancing.
  • Lexington Golf Course enforcing measures of social distancing, while allowing people to still enjoy the game of golf.
  • Lexington Utilities call center extending hours 6am to 8pm to better serve and educate on safer ways to handle utility business online and by phone.
  • Late payment and non-sufficient/returned check fees are also suspended, in addition to utility disconnects and non-payment fees. Customers should continue payments to minimize long-term impact.

Reminder that all essential government, public safety and utility services continue.

Physical distancing from each other WILL save lives and WE CAN do this together…as long as it takes.
