Lexington Academy is for anyone 16 or older with priority given to Lexington residents. This program is ideal for local business owners, community leaders, real estate agents, and ANYONE who wants to learn more about City operations.

Expectations of participants:

• Attend at least 7 of the 9 sessions
• Come prepared for the sessions (weather and activities)
• Let city staff know if you will be late or absent 
• Monitor your email for program updates

Apply for the 2025 academy class by 11:59 p.m. August 29, 2025.

The 2025 schedule are on the following Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

• September 25th
• October 2nd
• October 9th
• October 16th
• October 23rd
• October 30th
• November 6th
• November 13rd - Graduation!!

Lexington Academy participants are expected to attend all sessions. However, we understand that life happens. Participants must attend 7 out of the 9 sessions to qualify for graduation. 

Participants will have the opportunity to meet the Mayor and City Council members, as well as all of the City's departments which include:

• City Administration
• Lexington Utilities - Electric, Natural Gas, Water Resources, and Customer Service
• Police
• Fire
• Public Services - Engineering, Recycling & Waste, Stormwater, Street, and Fleet Maintenance
• Business & Community Development
• Information Technology
• Finance
• Human Resources
• Parks and Recreation
• Golf

Class size is limited. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. August 29, 2025, for consideration. Applicants will be contacted September 3, 2025, via email confirming their spot.
