What is Lexington Academy?

The City of Lexington invites you to attend Lexington Academy - an educational program where participants will enjoy a interactive, internal overview of City operations. Weekly, participants engage with different departments to gain a robust understanding of what services the City provides and how. Sessions will include combinations of departmental summaries, demonstrations, activities, tours (where applicable) and questions and answer sessions.

Class Details

Applications for the 2026 class closed on September 4, 2026.

The 2026 Lexington Academy will be held weekly, on Tuesdays from 5:30pm-8:30pm, beginning September 15 and concludes with graduation on November 17. The academy is free, open to residents (16 years old or older) living within city limits and dinner will be provided. Class size is limited to 15 participants.

Participants must attend at least 7 of 9 sessions to qualify for graduation.

Who should apply?

Lexington Academy is for Lexington residents who live within the city limits, 16 or older. This program is ideal for ANYONE who wants to learn more about City operations.

Expectations of participants:

Attend at least 7 of the 9 sessions
Prepare for the sessions (weather and activities)
Participate and engage during the sessions
Inform City staff if you will be late or absent
Monitor your email for program updates

Lexington Academy participants are expected to attend all sessions. However, we understand life happens. Participants must attend 7 out of the 9 sessions to qualify for graduation.
