The City of Lexington, in collaboration with the Piedmont Triad Regional Council, is working on a Housing Needs Study to assess the current and future housing needs of our community. The study will collect data on local housing trends and input from residents and stakeholders to help inform decisions about housing policies, programs, and development priorities.
Goals of the Housing Needs Study:
- Assess current housing conditions
- Determine housing demand and preferences
- Identify gaps in housing supply
- Support data-driven planning and policy

- January 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at City Centre - Stakeholder Meeting with Local Employers and Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce

- February 26, 2026, 5:30 p.m. at Location TBD – In-person Open House to review and provide input on the initial findings and recommendations

Previous Community Input
November 20, 2025 – Virtual Community Meeting
PTRC reviewed and held a discussion on the land use map, housing data, and existing policies with attendees. Attendees were also able to participate in a slido poll. Click here to see the slideshow presented with the polling results.
November 18, 2025 – Community Meeting at Robbins Rec Center
Attendees were encouraged to visit the various stations and provide input at each using stickers, post-it notes, or their agenda.

October 23, 2025 – Davidson County Homelessness Task Force Meeting
PTRC reviewed local housing data and asked attendees for feedback on the draft community survey and their perspective working with the unsheltered population.
