City of Lexington COVID-19 Update May 18, 2020

As we continue to navigate the unknowns of COVID-19, the City of Lexington's top priority is maintaining essential services for our community while protecting the health and safety of our residents and employees.

Effective May 18, 2020, the following updates apply to Lexington Parks and Recreation parks, amenities, and programs:

Lexington Aquatic Park, Washington Park Splash Pad & Summer Programs Update

  • Lexington Aquatic Park will remain closed for the 2020 summer season.
  • Washington Park Splash Pad's re-opening status is on hold and under evaluation.
  • Summer recreational programs are also under evaluation to determine the safest options for the 2020 season.
  • Stay tuned for updates on the City website, Facebook & Twitter pages, and Parks and Recreation Facebook & Instagram pages for additional details for Washington Park Splash Pad and summer programming.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, the City must take into consideration large gathering potential and restrictions, social distancing logistics, and implementing measures recommended by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) when determining which facilities to re-open and which programs to offer.  The City will continue to follow recommendations from state and local leaders in deciding what each phase of re-opening looks like for Lexington.
