World's Largest Swimming Lesson
Join tens of thousands of kids and adults at pools around the world for the World's Largest Swimming Lesson (WLSL)! It's the 10th anniversary of the WLSL, and over 600 locations in 20 countries will take part this year. Swimming is a life-saving skill for children and a vital tool to prevent drowning, the second leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for U.S. children ages 1-14.
Registration for this FREE event will begin at 11:15, and swim lessons will be held in 3 sessions. The first session will be from 11:45-12:15, the second will be from 12:15 to 12:45, and the third will be from 12:45-1:15. A parent MUST sign in all participants that are under 18, and MUST stay at the pool throughout the swim lesson.
Led by trained lifeguards from the J. Smith Young YMCA, this is a fun, free way to help get your kid comfortable around the water and learn basic water safety. For more information, go to WLSL.org, or contact Kendall Whortan, Aquatic Director at the YMCA.
