Now that the NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has finalized paving on Main and West Center, the City has started work in Uptown Lexington to install 18 decorative crosswalks on these streets to further accent the central business district. The work will require temporary road closures as the crosswalks are installed by block, alternating north and south of Center Street to minimize inconveniences for businesses and patrons.

The work will continue through mid-November, until completion, as weather permits.

 The crosswalk beautification project ties in with City Council's Goal #3: Focus efforts on improving the City's appearance and supporting development of "green" initiatives.
