Make a Difference: Vacancy on Parks & Recreation Advisory Board – Ward 3

Serving on the City of Lexington's Boards and Commissions (BAC) is one of the best ways for your voice to be heard and serve the community. If you reside in Ward 3 and are passionate about public parks, youth sports and recreational programs, there's a BAC vacancy available that can provide your opportunity to get involved.

There is a Ward 3 position open to serve on the City of Lexington's Parks and Recreational Advisory Board.

What is the Lexington Parks and Recreational Advisory Board?

The Lexington Parks and Recreational Advisory Board reviews policies and programs, providing a comprehensive year-round program of recreational activities in conjunction with outstanding parks, playgrounds and facilities.

Lexington Parks and Recreation offers athletics, recreational activities, and special events for all ages throughout the year.  Their programs are inclusive and open to people of all abilities. The department also operates and maintains over 20 parks and facilities, offering a wealth of outdoor fun including playgrounds, walking trails, athletic fields, green spaces, and aquatic parks.

Regular Meetings: Every 3rd Monday in February, May, August and November at 6:00 p.m., Robbins Recreation Center, 512 South Hargrave Street, Lexington, NC. For more information, call 336-248-3971.

What are the requirements to serve?

  • Members may only serve on one advisory board or commission at a time.
  • Members of advisory boards and commissions generally serve without compensation unless otherwise provided. 
  • Members must reside inside the city limits with the exception of the Lake Thom-A-Lex Recreation Authority, Lexington Housing Authority and the Lexington Tourism Authority, which permit some members to reside outside the city limits due to special qualifications.
