At the City Council meeting on Monday, October 14, Council approved a fireworks exhibit scheduled for the 40th Annual Lexington Barbecue Festival. According to NC General Statute 14-413, fireworks displays must be authorized by the local governing body before a permit can be issued. Wetzel Pyrotechnics is the fireworks provider that will render services for the festival's fireworks display.
The Lexington Barbecue Festival will be held on Saturday, October 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This will be the first return of the Barbecue Festival's fireworks display since 2018. The display will occur just after dark near the Breden Insurance Ampitheater in the parking lot of the old Lexington Home Brands office located at the corner of East 4th Avenue and South Salisbury Street.
