Master Police Officer

 A Master Police Officer performs intermediate protective service and public safety work maintaining order, responding to emergencies, protecting people and property, enforcing motor vehicle and criminal laws, and promoting good community relations for the Police Department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high School diploma or GED
  • Five years’ experience as a sworn law enforcement officer with progressively responsible experience at police officer levels
  • A minimum of 300 hours of approved continuing education with required hours in developmental areas as outlined in the department’s career ladder document (excluding Basic Law Enforcement Training and State Mandated Training/Re‐Certifications)
  • Valid NC Driver’s license and good driving record
  •  General law enforcement certification issued by North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards

Resume and law enforcement training records required.  Job description indicates minimum of 300 hours of approved continuing education in key developmental areas.  These areas are: Management/Leadership; Investigative; Community Oriented Policing; Emotional Intelligence; Tactical/Patrol.  Resume and training record allows for review of training to ensure these training requirements are met.

Work Schedule

4 on - 4 off, 12 hour shifts, rotating every two weeks. Paid bi-weekly.
Overtime and Extra Duty assignments available.
