The City of Lexington is dedicated to giving businesses and entrepreneurs the assistance and support necessary for successful start-up, operation and expansion. The Office of Business and Community Development leads this effort in partnership with the Davidson County Economic Development Commission, Lexington Area Chamber of CommerceDavidson County Community College, and ElectriCities of North Carolina. Together, these combined talents form the Lexington Business Development Consortium, a strong network of resources that deliver confidential, thorough and professional assistance to meet each company's unique needs.

On March 11, 2013, City Council adopted a Resolution committing to implement the Business Development Consortium’s Strategic Plan, an aggressive work plan focused in the five key areas of Business Recruitment, Entrepreneur Development, Existing Business Support, Marketing and Promotions, and Business Infrastructure. Follow the above links to the Resolution and Strategic Plan to learn more about these activities and how this program can be of assistance.

Whether you are interested in starting your own business, relocating to the area, expanding an existing business, or having difficulty keeping the doors open; the Business Development Consortium staff stands ready to help.  We provide comprehensive business planning, site location assistance and development services from initial contact, through planning and permitting, to future growth and expansion.  Lexington is a forward thinking, business-friendly community where local government focuses on relationship, rather than bureaucracy. We will help you analyze demographic and market data, determine site availability and suitability, and refine development plans to make your venture a certain success in Lexington.
